FabSuite View - Estimating Model Interface

Once an IFC file has been associated with a job, it can be opened in the model viewer.  From the main Production Control job screen right-click on the grid and select Model Interface.  This will open the Model Viewer Interface screen, which in turn launches the FabSuite View model viewer and opens the associated IFC file.

If a message appears saying that the user has not been assigned a View license then refer to the FabSuite View licensing documentation.

Comprehensive help documentation is available under the File menu of the viewer.  A quick reference to help get you started is available here.

In order to utilize the model interface features, the estimate must have references from the line items to the model object GUIDs.  In order to achieve this you must import the items into the estimate using the direct IFC import.

Additional right-click options on the grid will appear after the model has been opened:

  • Select in Model - Sets the selection in the model based on the line items that are currently selected in the grid.
  • Select from Model - Sets the selection in the grid based on the objects that are currently selected in the model.
  • Enable/Disable Auto-Select in Model - Enables or disables the mode where the model selection is set after every change of the selection in the grid.  This is equivalent to manually selecting the 'Select in Model' option after each change to the selection in the grid.  Enabling this mode will disable the 'Auto-Select from Model' mode, if it is enabled.
  • Enable/Disable Auto-Select from Model - Enables or disables the mode where the selection in the grid is set after every change of the selection in the model.  This is equivalent to manually selecting the 'Select from Model' option after each change to the selection in the model.  Enabling this model will disable the 'Auto-Select from Model' mode, if it is enabled.
  • Isolate in Model - Hides all objects in the model except for the assemblies that are currently selected in FabSuite.
  • Reset Model Display - Resets the visibility, colors, and zoom position of the model to the original state.
  • Model Interface - Opens the Model Viewer Interface screen, if it has been closed.  Additional interaction with the model viewer including filtering and colorization can be done on this screen.

Model Viewer Interface Screen

The Model Viewer Interface screen that is opened from an estimate is functionally the same as the one opened from a production control job.  The difference being that the colorization statuses are different, because the estimate does not have material, production, or shipping statuses.  From an estimate the model can be colorized by the following statuses:

  • Category
  • Sub-Category
  • Sequence
  • Page
