FabSuite View - Associate an IFC file with a job

In order to be able to use the IFC viewer to interact with the model, an IFC file must first be associated with the job in the document index.

On the Select Production Control Job screen select the desired job and click the Document Index button.

The document index of all jobs now include an IFC Files category.  This is a special category that will always be present in the document index for production control and project management jobs.  An IFC file must be added to the document index and referenced from that IFC Files category in order to be available to open in the model viewer.  Select the IFC Files category on the left and then click the Add Document Reference button on the bottom of the screen.

Click the Add File button, select the IFC file in the file browser, click the Add File button, and then click the Add Document Reference button.

The IFC file has now been successfully associated with the job.  Double-check to make sure that the Category is listed as IFC Files.  If it is not that means that the IFC Files category was not selected when the Add Document Reference button was clicked, and in that case this file will not be available to open in the model viewer.

Multiple IFC files can be added to the IFC Files category.  In that case the model viewer will open the one with the most recent Date/Time Loaded.

When the production control job is linked to a project management job then the IFC file can be added to the document index of either job.

Note for Exporting IFC Files out of Tekla Structures

In order for FabSuite to be able to properly interact with the model, the IFC file must include the assembly definitions.  The default IFC export settings in Tekla Structures do not include assemblies.  To include assemblies click to the Advanced tab on the 'Export to IFC' screen in Tekla Structures and check the Assemblies box under Object types.
