FabSuite View - Estimating IFC Import

A direct IFC import into estimating is now available.  To use this import select File > Import, select the import option Estimating > IFC, select an IFC file to import, and click the Import button.

The contents of the IFC file are then read.  Depending on the size of the file this can take a few moments.  Then the job edit screen appears to enter the desired job # and other details.

The details of the parts are now read from the IFC file, validated, and written to the estimate.  Notice the 'Invalid shape' error below.  It is typical for an IFC file to include non-steel objects such as walls and slabs, and these may well fail to match up to a vaid shape.

When the import has completed, open the Document Index for the new estimate and associate the IFC file with the estimate. This will allow you to open the estimate and use the model interface capabilities.
